The Mezzanine is the second floor. The boss fought here is Chef Soulfflé. It seems to be an entertainment and dining area for lower guests. Like the name of the floor implies, it's directly accessible from 1F by a set of stairs.
While it can be accessed the whole game except the prologue, the right area is blocked by a wet floor sign from 1F and a piece of trash from the other side of it. When you beat Kruller, Polterpup will unblock the sign and you can finally access the right area. From there, you can suck up the trash and connect the two halves.
Oozers are also first met here, in fact, after the boss for the level is defeated. They are the thrower-type ghost for the hotel.

Walkthrough[]
2F is commonly split into two sections; one after the prologue and the other after you beat 3F - Hotel Shops. The right side is blocked off until you beat steward. You can clear a path between the two sections from there. Chef Soulfflé, the boss ghost for the floor, does not spawn until after 3F is beaten.
Before 3F[]
Once Luigi opens the door to the Ballroom, he gasps in shock as he sees E.Gadd trapped in a painting. Polterpup is shown whining and calling for help. Head left into the hall and into the dressing room. Find a mirror on the right side. You can see on the non-visible wall through the mirror that it has a Strobulb-button on it. Flash it for the painting to open up like a two-piece vault the Key to reveal itself. When you come out, you will see 2 Goobs put up wanted images of Luigi, then look at him and realize that he is on the wanted image.
Defeat them and then head into the Storage Room. After messing around on the left side, flash a vault with your Strobulb. Polterpup will come from a secret area if you fail to notice. From there it will open and the Dark-Light Device will come out. It is also significantly upgraded, with unlimited time of shining before it overheats. Polterpup will then go over to a painting with stack of gold Coins and tells you to press X. Pressing X will make the Gold 3D and colored, eventually all spewing out with Gold Bars and Pearls as well. The painting is then left with a blue and purple spiral, and it cannot be interacted again with. Head back to the ballroom and shine the light on E. Gadd. he will come out and thank Luigi. He then asks to escort him back to B1 - Basement, as he has something to show him. Luigi and E. Gadd then leave 2F.
After 3F[]
Once you enter 2F via the elevator, Polterpup finally unblocks a wet floor sign. Head straight to the Kitchen through the restaurant. After stepping onto it, Luigi will try to sneak past 4 Goobs. Unfortunately, he knocks over a fancy glass bottle of olive oil and the Goobs notice, calling 4 more and initiating a battle. The Goobs here also use food items as attacks. Once you head into the restaurant, a bunch of smoke will come out. Vacuum with both Luigi and Gooigi to reveal Chef Soulfflé.
After beating Chef Soulfflé, the Elevator Button will explode out of the Poltergust G-00 and onto the sink. Head over, but a Mouse will eat it up and scurry away. Luigi must then track it down. Head back into the restaurant and through the hallway to discover that the mouse went into the Entertainment Room. He must then head in there to see that the mouse has scurried in between the lockers on the slightly elevated section of the room.
Heading up the stairs to there, a billiards ball gets thrown at Luigi, but misses. Turning around, Luigi discovers two Oozers scaring him and then deciding to battle him. In the battle, Oozers tend to stay away from Luigi, going inside objects or appearing away. If they hide inside an object, Luigi needs to interact with said object to reveal them and make them head over to another. They can be flashed during that heading over time.
Once Luigi beats them, slam over one of the 3 lockers to reveal the mouse. He will then scurry away again back to the hall. Getting out of the room shows that the mouse goes to the right, where the bathrooms are located. The rat heads into the Women's bathroom. Unless Luigi did the procedure to enter this bathroom earlier, the door is blocked. Luigi must enter the Men's bathroom, and use the suction shot to slam the vent blocker on the wall. Gooigi can then enter it, being able to unblock the pile of food that prevents Luigi from using the door to the bathroom.
Once either of the two enter, head over to the middle stall and open it. In there is a pile of rats, only one of which is the one with the button. They all scatter on the floor. Vacuum them all up and then get the Elevator Button from the right one. After Luigi gets it, head to the Elevator and insert the button to get to 4F - The Great Stage.
Post-Story[]
Re-entering will make more ghosts spawn for you to battle. They will start to appear after entering the kitchen. These occasionally spawn randomly and do not have anything special, as they do not create paranormal gates.
Right Side[]
Left Side[]
- Hammer found past door.
- Two Maid Goobs, with dusters
Occasionally, entering the ballroom will cause 3 Maid Hammers and 3 Bellhop Hammers to circle Luigi once he enters the center. This is one of the stronger return groups, so it is recommended to be careful in defeating these Hammers.
Bonus Unlockables[]
Achievement[]
There are 3 objects hidden in the dressing room. To the left of the door, at the south, is a treasure chest. To the right of the door, still south and left of the bench, is a hidden chair (which contains a golden goob), and to the northeast corner is a hidden bin. Get them all to unlock the achievement.
Gems[]
Each floor of the hotel will have 6 different gems of several colors. All the gems in the hotel will have a distinctive shape depending on the floor they are located. The ones in the Mezzanine will be oval shaped.
White Gem[]
Inside the Men's Restroom (right), Luigi must open the stall on the right with the Suction Shot, this will reveal a mysterious being with a newspaper on the toilet.
Luigi must use the Poltergust G-00 to see who's hiding behind the newspaper. A Gem Goob will appear, and before escaping from Luigi, the toilet will flush with the ghost stuck in it, resulting in a funny scene. The player can take advantage of this animation to attack.
Red Gem[]
In the Ballroom, Luigi must vacuum the chandelier to reveal a hidden area on the west side, where they keep tables and chairs. There he will find the red gem.
There's a hint to find this gem in the 1F - Grand Lobby floor. Luigi can see in a left crack of the level 2 Lobby the red gem with a Mouse on the other side. Although his investigation will soon be over caused by a Gold Spider obstructing the view.
Blue Gem[]
If Luigi goes to the Kitchen, he will find two freezers on the front wall. The one on the left can be opened using the Suction Shot.
The gem is frozen in a block of ice in one of the shelves on the left. Holding it and carrying it over with the Poltergust G-00 to the stove, which will melt the ice and reveal the blue gem.
Green Gem[]
At the left of the Dressing Room are several hangers with suits. Luigi must vacuum the purple coat to reveal a safe.
The gem is inside this safe, and can be opened using the Strobulb.
Purple Gem[]
In the north of the Entertainment Room, the player will see a dartboard on the right, but without a dart in sight to throw.
There is a shield and sword display on the right wall. Luigi must launch a sword at the diana to reveal the gem as the prize.
Yellow Gem[]
From the East Wing Hallway, in front of the door leading to the Restaurant, is a menu that can be destroyed using the Suction Shot.
Once destroyed, it will reveal on each side of the door two propellers made of spoons and forks. Luigi and Gooigi must vacuum them at the same time to turn the blades and spawn the gem.
Trivia[]
- This floor, along with the B2 - Boilerworks, is the only floor that has a significant amount of story content once the main ghost is defeated.
- 2F - Mezzanine seems to be an entertainment & dining center for lower ghosts and guests, as higher up is 12F - The Spectral Catch which seems to do the exact same thing.
- 2F and 1F are directly connected through the staircase in the Grand Lobby. Only B1 and 1F are also connected, but the transition also requires a door unlike 2F and 1F.
