Castle MacFrights is the 6th floor and the 7th to be unlocked, after defeating Amadeus Wolfgeist. It mainly consists of classic castle areas, such as stock barrels, traps, armories, manually-operated elevators, jails, and secret gold stashes. The boss fought here is King MacFrights and beating him unlocks 7F - Garden Suites.
This floor is mainly linear, as there is a set path that Luigi must travel through and there is not that much backtracking. It also expands on Gooigi's capabilities, as it shows how he can travel through spikes that damage Luigi or walk through arrows
Appearance[]
While this floor appears to be a standard medieval castle, it's likely a medieval reenactment area used for entertainment, not an actual castle, as real castles did not contain booby traps. The floor being centered around the Coliseum, the arena itself, the cardboard cut-out audience and the entrance gates with a ticket stand are evidence of this. There are lots of armour stands with swords and chilvery all over the floor, with banners and flags of King MacFrights on display too. Several spikes and pendulum axes litter this floor, which Gooigi is immune to. There are also armed hooded archers that will repeatedly shoot at Luigi.

Walkthrough[]

Once the player enters the floor, they will need to go to the right to where a giant gate is blocking the way to the door. Luigi can summon Gooigi and then make him squeeze through the Gate. Gooigi can't open the door, so he has to head over to the metal ball and pull on it. The gate will open up like a door and Luigi can pass through into the Hall of Armor. Nothing bad happens here, and he can proceed quickly. Then when going onto the Coliseum Balcony, 2 Goobs play Medieval trumpet fanfares and then introduce the boss ghost, King MacFrights. MacFrights then challenges Luigi to battle him and opens another gate, allowing Luigi to go through the long path to the Coliseum. The short path is blocked, so Luigi proceeds through the path and into the Armory.
In the armory, Luigi can see two swords mid-air clanging at each other. Two Goobs then appear, holding those swords. Luigi can then start to battle them. Soon after, another Goob with a sword appears. Defeating all three will allow Luigi to proceed into the Stairway. He then walks down the stairs onto the middle platform with a grate, where if he tries to walk towards the chest, spikes will pop out from the grate. The chest is optional, but if he walks down the second set of stairs towards the door, there is another set of spikes. This time, there is a metal ball on a rope on the other side of them that can be pulled to retract them. Gooigi should then be used to walk through the spikes, as he can do so without taking damage. After the spikes are fully retracted, Luigi can pass and head into the Cellar.
Gems[]
Each floor of the hotel will have 6 different gems of several colors.
All the gems in the hotel will have a distinctive shape depending on the floor they are located. The ones in Castle MacFrights will be shaped like swords.
White Gem[]
After the battle against King MacFrights, in one of the seats of the Coliseum Balcony, Luigi will see a suit of armor holding a bag of popcorn with the gem in it, camouflaged with its white color. The player just needs to use the Poltergust G-00.
Red Gem[]
If the player is aware of the armor pattern in the Hall of Armor, they will notice a missing armor on the northwest side of the room. Luigi must use the Dark-Light Device there, and once materialized, use the Suction Shot to break it and reveal the gem inside.
Blue Gem[]
In the Cellar, Luigi can use the Suction Shot to open the green cap of the barrel on the far east, which contains a hidden path on the right to a ladder leading to the gem above.
Green Gem[]
The gem is treasured in the Royal Coffers, but to get there, Luigi needs to vacuum the rightmost and biggest tapestry of King MacFrights in the Coliseum Hallway.
This will reveal a big gap on the wall. Using the Dark-Light Device will reveal a door. The door leads to the Royal Coffers, which contains the gem. Entering here the player will earn the achievement "Found the Royal Coffers".
Purple Gem[]
The front wall of the Armory is fake, the player can see that it's even held with chains from above, and not only that, some of the bricks are loose too.
If Luigi uses the Suction Shot on the bricks, he will activate a mechanism that will lift the false wall, revealing a chest and medieval helmet. Inside the chest are several Coins and the gem.
Yellow Gem[]
In the ground floor of the Cage-Lift Room, just at the left wall besides the elevator, is a fan that Luigi can blow to lower a cage that contains the gem.
After lowering the cage, Gooigi can walk through it and get it.
Trivia[]
- Interestingly, though the entire floor was based off Medieval times, the Coliseum, that you face the boss in, was never used during that time period.
