The Blue Twirler is an uncommon type of regular ghost that Luigi encounters in Luigi's Mansion. They appear lately in the game and are first introduced during the Blackout, though they are significantly more common in the Hidden Mansion.
They move at a low speed towards Luigi and will use their fists to make shock waves that spread around, dealing 10 damage (or 20 in the Hidden Mansion), and they are also a bit more difficult to catch than the other non-portrait ghosts. They are also vulnerable to any element.
Three Blue Twirlers (six in the 3DS Hidden Mansion) are fought as the third wave of ghosts Vincent Van Gore sends at Luigi.
Cameos
Blue Twirlers make cameos in several later Mario games:
- In Mario Power Tennis, they, as well as several other generic ghost species from Luigi's Mansion, appear on the Luigi's Mansion tennis court.
- In Mario Supper Sluggers, they are found in the Luigi's Mansion stadium, where they stun fielders that run into the graves they reside within.
- A Blue Twirler also appears as a part of a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Trivia
- Oddly enough, their shock waves can hit Luigi even when he is walking on the ceiling.
- The Blue Twirler is the only ghost in the game to be encountered after its variant.
- They are comparable to Slammers from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, as well as Hammers from Luigi's Mansion 3.
