The Coward's Chasm is a room inside of the Secret Mine in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. It is accessible via the revolving Wooden Wall on the East side of the Shaft on B3, or the West door in the Deep Hall.
This room isn't particularly large in size, as it's just two cliffsides separated by a narrow chasm. There is a large mirror facing the north wall of the chasm, which gives the optical illusion that the chasm is impassable. There is actually a path behind the mirror that the player can take to get to the other side. A lantern dangles over the chasm which if the player recognizes in the mirror, they can allude that it's just a reflection, hence solving the puzzle. On the eastern side of the room there are some tipped-over minecarts as well as a wheel. Vacuuming on the wheel will either lower down or pull up the lantern. If the player lowers down the lantern to the carved out face in the ice wall, gold bats will fly out. The revolving ice wall to the West leads back into the Shaft, while the door to the East leads through into the Deep Hall.
Trivia[]
- The layout of this room has a strikingly close similarity to the False Bedroom in the Twisted Suites from Luigi's Mansion 3. Both contain a large mirror facing the camera on the north wall, giving the illusion of a smaller room.
- The carved out face in the ice wall bears a slight resemblance to the Ice Monster the player fights in the Chilly Ride boss fight. It also resembles the Creepy Door and the faces on the retracted stairs in the Hollow Tree and Eerie Staircase.
