The Dual Scream (or DS as referred to sometimes in game) is a device created by Professor Elvin Gadd in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon that is used as a communications device from between him and Luigi. It additionally doubles as a map. It is the successor to the Game Boy Horror from Luigi's Mansion. The Dual Scream is based of the Nintendo DS console. In Luigi's Mansion 3, the Dual Scream is succeeded by the Virtual Boo.
Obtainment[]
The Dual Scream is given to Luigi from the professor at the beginning of the game, before heading of the Gloomy Manor during the first mission, "Poltergust 5000."
Functions[]
Communication[]
The Dual Scream's main function is for E. Gadd to talk to Luigi for updates and general briefs. When he decides to call Luigi, the DS will start vibrating and startle Luigi. A remix of the standard theme will start playing. Luigi will pat all around his body until A is pressed, and then he brings it out from a place he never checked.
E. Gadd will then start talking through the Dual Scream, and his gibberish will be translated through a text box below. When his call ends, Luigi shuts the screen, says "Ciao!" and then puts it back in his pocket.
Maps[]
The Dual Scream also functions as a map. When looking at it, Luigi has access to the entire mansion floor plans, and can scroll through different floors. The whole map is one single color. Doors are also marked for Luigi. Additionally, E. Gadd can mark certain areas with a bold yellow "!" exclamation mark, signifying its importance. Luigi's position and any Toad escorts are also marked on the map.
