Eerie Staircase is one of the many rooms found in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. It is located in the Haunted Towers, and can be accessed only by going through the big creepy door in the Hollow Tree.
Dark Moon Quest[]
Tree Topping[]
When Luigi opens the door inside the Hollow Tree, he's extremely shocked to see the Eerie Staircase, right before being scared by the Harsh Possessor. Luigi has to make his way to the huge staircase, making his way to find the Possessor and the third Dark Moon piece.
Hostile Intrusion[]
The highest stairs at the Hollow Tree are still pulled in, so Luigi cannot go back to the Eerie Staircase.
Appearance[]
The Eerie Staircase has 20 sets of three staircases, with blue torches. These torches can turn red if Luigi chooses the right staircase. Should Luigi choose the wrong set of stairs, he'll slide back down to the bottom, as well as be forced to fight either a Greenie, a Slammer or a Sneaker.
This room is essentially a memory puzzle. The only way to ascend the stairs is to select the correct path everytime. When the correct set of stairs has been picked, the torches will turn from blue to red, and will stay that way indefinitely. These red flames should be used to indicate the right path up should Luigi fall down the stairs. After the first failed climb, the correct path will be subtlety displayed to Luigi by having the path's torches be put out. Luigi should act fast as the torches will reignite, hiding the correct path after a few seconds. Sometimes after guessing a correct path, the flames of the next flight will be slightly smaller for a second, which can be used to differ the right path.
It's important to note that the correct path up the stairs will randomise everytime the mission is selected, meaning there is no preset path that the player should take.
