The fake carpet is a trap that appear in the ScareScraper mode for Luigi's Mansion 3. When the player walks on it the fake carpet will roll up and trap the player inside of it and deal them 10 damage, and the player stays there until either another player appears and sucks it up or it eventually lets you out. It can also be sucked up without any player being trapped in it.
