Ghost Bats are minor enemies that appear in Luigi's Mansion. They come in two different colors, purple and yellow, and they often appear in big groups.
Story[]
Purple Ghost Bats[]
Purple Ghost Bats would hang upside-down from the ceiling. They can be found only in the hallways of the mansion, and when Luigi strolled past them, the mob of purple Ghost Bats would fly downward to attack the green-clad plumber. When they do this the player can hear the flapping sound of their wings. If a bat managed to hit Luigi, the plumber would be slightly damaged with 5 HP and the poltergeist would disappear in a puff of dust. If the strike has failed and missed, the ghost bat would return to the ceiling and prepare for the next attack.
Yellow Ghost Bats[]
Yellow Ghost Bats, like purple Ghost Bats, hang upside-down on the ceiling. They would only attack if the player controlling Luigi pressed the "R" button while they're hanging upside-down on the ceiling. In all other respects, they are particularly the same as violet Ghost Bats. These undead Ghost Bats could be easily sucked up with the Poltergust 3000 or immediately destroyed with elemental powers.
Abilities[]
Flight: Due to their wings, ghost bats have the power of flight.
Speed: Ghost Bats are rather quick.
Bite: Ghost Bats can bite Luigi, dealing 5 HP of damage.

Trivia[]
- Unlike Ghost Mice, Ghost Bats do not have a blue variant.
- In Hidden Room, there is a glitch that if you hold down the R button before entering the room, the yellow bats will attack you before you can get up, due to the yellow bats attacking when you turn on the vacuum. But with this glitch they attack you even if you haven't used the vacuum. In the 3DS version, this glitch was fixed.
