This article is about the Kitchen from the first game. You may be looking for the Kitchen from the second game, either the Kitchen from the Gloomy Manor, or the Kitchen from the Treacherous Mansion.

The Kitchen (Japanese: 台所 Kitchen) is a room that can be found by Luigi in the second area of the game. It's also the room where Luigi can find the Water Elemental Medal.

Description[]

The Kitchen is pretty plain looking, and there aren't many points of interest except for an old-fashioned stove and fridge (use the Poltergust 3000 to open the fridge, the door bursts open). Also, as mentioned above, this is where Luigi gains the Water Element Medal. A Speedy Spirit is hidden in the dishwasher. At the far left of the kitchen is an exit door that is blocked off by a small fire when Luigi enters the room. However, when Luigi obtains the Water Element Medal, he can put out the fire and go through the door, which leads to the Boneyard.

Story[]

After Luigi defeated the gluttonous Mr. Luggs in the Dining Room, he ventured into the room next door and discovered it was a Kitchen. Like the rest of the mansion, the kitchen was haunted. Luigi found this out the hard way. Dodging and vacuuming up flying pots and pans, the green hatted plumber threw open the refrigerator to discover a Flash ghost. Luigi managed to melt the ghost's protective ice covering after using the Poltergust 3000's ability to expel fire. Luigi managed to suck up the ghost and turn on the lights. A large blue chest appeared in the middle of the room. When Luigi opened it, he obtained the Water Element Medal, which allowed him to capture Water Elemental Ghosts and shoot water out of his vacuum.

In early versions[]

The elements of the early version of the Kitchen were revealed via a screenshot of the unused Kitchen Portrait Ghost.

  • There is a door on the front of the Kitchen that is not seen in the final game. However, a False Door is placed where this door would've been in the 1F Hallway.
  • The door leading to the Boneyard is not on fire, suggesting the water Elemental Medal may not have been implemented at this stage in development.
  • There is no water coming out of the faucet, once again suggesting the Water Element may not have been implemented at this stage in development.
  • The Gameboy Horror and Element Meter aren't shown, once again suggesting the Water Element wasn't added yet, and also reinforcing this was taken in an early stage of development.

Trivia[]

  • By using fire on the oven, the player can obtain a Ruby from it. In fact, looking at it through the Game Boy Horror will give a hint to relight it.
  • The Fridge can damage Luigi if he directly stands next to it while opening it.
  • Inside the Fridge, there are some boxes with the words "food" and "cheese" written on them, though this is not the case in the 3DS remake.
  • On the shelf above the oven, there is another box with the word "food" on it, but mirrored. This is not the case in the 3DS remake.
  • There was originally going to be a chef ghost in this room.
  • In the game's beta version, a china table was in the far left corner of the room.
  • There is a 20% chance a Gold Mouse will appear the moment Luigi enters the room.
