Here is all of the beta elements of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

E3 2011[]

Luigi's Mansion 2 was not called Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon in the NA version, instead it was called simply Luigi's Mansion 2 for all regions, US, Japan and Europe instead of NA having a Dark Moon instead of 2.

Beta elements

  • In the front yard of Gloomy Manor, it used to have a statue covered all in sheets, the left side had a chest with coins, and even the gate had coins leading to it.
  • In the trailer during E3, the Keys is grey, but gold in the final version of the demo in E3. The keys will get pulled instead of just disappearing, breaking in to pieces.
  • Luigi will look in the keyhole in the demo, he will try to open the door but instead, the door shutters, and allowing him to go in.
  • Spider webs were everywhere in the entrance.
  • Instead of Luigi having to do the job of going to Gadd's Vintage car, and getting the Poltergust 5000, he has the Poltergust 5000 and Strobulb immediately.
  • At the Garage, a Gold Greenie would scare Luigi, in the final version, it's just a normal greenie.
  • Knights would have more shiny armor.
  • The Library used to be on the second floor, where the lobby is.
  • A Poltergeist stopped Luigi to go up the stairs at the Foyer, it was replaced by a Hider when at the top of the stairs.
  • The heart meter was at the top left corner of the screen instead of the bottom.
  • The brain of a Poltergeist were not visible and instead using the powers of the Poltergeist, he just threw books at Luigi. The Poltergeist also has unused sound clips.
  • A door would automatically to the gear close instead of a Greenie closing it. It was not planned at that time.
  • A Slammer had a unused sound when sucked up, it was used instead when the Slammer gets power from inside of the crystals.
  • E Gadd's Bunker looked different, with no door leading to the Vault and the screens looked different as well.
  • A room used to be there with a mummy included from the Old Clockworks. The room was later cut.
  • The bed in the Bedroom (Gloomy Manor) was placed in a different way and also didn't have a trapdoor since it was placed diffrently.
  • When trying drain a ghost's health, it is slower.
  • There is no gauge.
  • Luigi had a lot of reused voice clips from Luigi's Mansion It was replaced with new voice clips. Although some voice clips managed to stick around.
  • Seeing the Secret Pocket reveals the Dining Room, instead, it was replaced by the Studio.
  • The mechanism at the Foyer is at the front at the fountain.
  • The bone fish statues were not the same from the final version.

E3 2012[]

  • The Old Clockworks used to be at the Second Mansion instead of the Haunted Towers.
  • The reason the Old Clockworks closed is not because ghosts took over, instead it was the accidents that happened.
  • While the Polterpup eats the Key during the Haunted Towers, it was not raining, camera angle is different and Luigi was not shocked or mad.
  • Red Toad used to appear in the secret mine, but was replaced with a Blue Toad. Red Toad is now at the Haunted Towers.
  • The Cowards Chasm in the Secret Mine did not need something just to enter, you just simply walk in.
  • There used to be spider webs at the Elevator to the Cellar This is possibly due to blocking unfinished parts of the game, like what the Luigi's Mansion demo did, blocking unfinished parts with crates, and blocking doors as well.
  • The Family Room at the Haunted Towers had a cake, while a Sneaker is securing it.
  • The mission results screen had a more simpler Pixelator design than the complex design.
  • Luigi had a belt on the flashlight that he was using.
  • In the Secret Mine Chalet Approach, there was a snowman that had a scarf that was yellow.

Scarescraper Unused Content[]

  • Smoke is an unused feature that covers the room in smoke. It likely triggers when furniture is interacted with. It prevents use of the Strobulb until all of it is sucked up, similar to the steam from the Dark Moon Quest. There are two types:
    • Grey, which does not have any special effects.
    • Purple, which is more dangerous, dealing 3 damage every few seconds.
