'''''Luigi's Mansion 3''''' is the third entry in the series, releasing for the [[Nintendo Switch]] worldwide on October 31, 2019. It was revealed in the September Direct 2018.

== Gameplay ==
Being the third entry in the series, Luigi's Mansion 3 retains the same core gameplay mechanics as the previous two games before it. Luigi stars as the main character and is in a large environment haunted by ghosts. Using the Poltergust G-00, the player controls Luigi with vacuuming up ghosts, collecting [[money]] and hidden collectibles, solving puzzles and obstacles and rescuing Mario and friends. This game takes the roots more back to the original Gamecube game, as the main setting is one enormous hotel, instead of Dark Moons' multiple mansions. There are 17 floors and each one acts as a level, and usually has a particular theme or own environment.

The new major feature added in Luigi's Mansion 3 is Gooigi, who is a clone doppelganger of Luigi. Gooigi is used to aid Luigi solve puzzles or get past obstacles that Luigi cannot. The player is in full control of both and can switch between them at any time (after unlocking Gooigi.) The Poltergust G-00 has new featured added to it as well, such as the burst and plunger. A new combat method to vacuum ghosts has been introduced aswell, with the use of the slam. When the Poltergust G-00's vacuum meter is full, the player can perform a slam, and knock the ghost into objects, dealing more [[damage]].

== Plot ==
The game opens with [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], [[Princess Peach]], three of the Mushroom Kingdom's [[Toad]]s, and Luigi's [[Polterpup]] heading over to a hotel called "''[[The Last Resort]] "'', a tall golden hotel for special guests.

The owner of the hotel, [[Hellen Gravely]], happens to appreciate the Mario Bros. and the Princess coming over for a stay at the hotel. As Hellen shows them to their rooms, Luigi and Polterpup head to sleep for the night, until awoken by Peach's scream. As it turns out, Hellen Gravely, as well as all of the others, were all ghosts and the hotel was a trap to capture Luigi and his friends. Hellen Gravely reveals that this was her plan all along, and was actually doing this for [[King Boo]].

Luigi has to now run away from King Boo, before he gets inside a picture frame ''(Note: If Luigi stops at a certain point while escaping from King Boo, Luigi gets trapped in a painting, resulting in an early game over.)''

After escaping from a laundry chute, Polterpup shows Luigi where to go and what to do from there. Polterpup shows Luigi the new [[Poltergust G-00]] and teaches him how to use it, and from there, Polterpup shows [[E. Gadd]], who's also been invited to stay a night at the hotel, is trapped in a painting.

After Luigi retrieved the [[Dark-Light Device]] (from Dark Moon), he frees E. Gadd from the painting, and escapes to the basement with Luigi. Then, E. Gadd sets up his lab in the [[Basement]] and allows Luigi to search for Mario, Peach, and the Toads.

Later, Luigi has to come back to the lab often, and acquire some things from and for E. Gadd. Luigi acquires the [[Virtual Boo]], which is a new communication device, [[Gooigi]] (who first appeared in the [[Nintendo 3DS|3DS]] [[Luigi's Mansion (3DS)|Remake]] of the first game) and a Boo Tracker which tracks down all of the hidden Boos on every floor of the hotel. Gooigi also helps Luigi by getting into out of reach places, or whenever Luigi needs help vacuuming ghosts.

After Luigi, Gooigi, and a slight bit of help from the Polterpup save the Toads, they all head to the top of the hotel and defeat Hellen Gravely, save Mario and finally finish off King Boo. After King Boo's defeat, the entire hotel collapses, and everyone helps the ghosts rebuild the hotel so that the ghosts have a place to stay.

* [[Luigi]]: Mario's younger brother and the main playable character. He is a scaredey cat who gets frightened easily, but has a heart of gold.
* [[Polterpup]]: A ghostly dog Luigi has adopted. He aids Luigi in the tutorial.
* [[Professor E. Gadd]]: A paranormal scientist and expert, E. Gadd aids Luigi in many helpful ways from his bunker.
* [[Mario]]: Luigi's older brother, Mario is the one always in the spotlight. He has been kidnapped across all three games.
* [[Peach]]: The Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach joins Luigi and friends at the hotel. This is her first appearance in the series.
* [[Toads]]: The citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. They usually assist Peach and friends, but E. Gadd employs some of them as his own.
* [[King Boo]]: The overarching villain of the series, and the king of the Boos. He uses dark magic and usually commands armies of ghosts to work for him in capturing Mario and friends.
* [[Hellen Gravely]]: The owner of the hotel, she appears kind but mysterious at first. It's sooner revealed she is working under King Boo.

== DLC Packs ==
Luigi's Mansion 3 also has 2 DLC packs available for purchase, costing 10$ for both. Upon purchase, they unlock 3 unique [[ScreamPark]] modes and 3 Luigi Skins. The Luigi skins are purely cosmetic and based on one of floors in the story mode. and have no real affect on gameplay, however in [[ScareScraper]], they have a chance to turn a floor into the same theme as the skin the player is wearing. This will also summon floor-themed Goobs and Slammers which are never seen anywhere else. Buying the DLC bundle will also give you a Polterpup Flashlight.
