Every user is free to comment and discuss issues related to Luigi's Mansion, the page, or even the wiki or community itself, but like anywhere else, respect others and follow the rules to keep the wiki in harmony and suitable for anyone who visit it.
Below you can find a list of rules that must be followed to keep the wiki and other users safe. If any of these are broken, it's likely that the messages will be deleted without warning, and in extreme cases, the users who have written them will be warned or blocked if they get themselves or others in trouble.
If you follow these rules feel free to comment on our pages, discussions, blogs and talk pages.
Offensive messages
Respect all users, including administrators. Do not comment on posts or pages to make fun of others or insult them.
Do not use the contributions of other users, be it a simple comment or edit, as an excuse to get into fights or make them feel bad for what they did.
If you don't agree with someone else's idea or edit, try to discuss it with them calmly and logically, don't drive them away from the wiki or make them feel afraid to edit something again on our pages if they were really just trying to help.
To avoid any type of conflict, any racist, homophobic, religious, anti-religious, offensive slurs or any curses of any type should never be added or they will be deleted. This includes taking comments that were not breaking these rules out of context and joining an innocent conversation to start a conflict out of nowhere.
If you find any troll or offensive comment, do not respond and report it immediately, if you decide to comment on it this will only attract more attention to it and can even begin a fight, something that the first user normally wants to happen. When an administrator sees the post, they will delete it as soon as possible.
Any kind of attacking response or taunt towards any user in a conversation that was following the rules will be deleted, but if for some reason the fight continues in that message and it gets out of our hands, the original comment will be removed to avoid further conflicts. This doesn't mean that the writer of the original comment has done something wrong or is in trouble, as this action is done to prevent users within it from continuing to argue and to protect the original and participating users if the attacks are directed at them.
Spam and irrelevant comments
To keep the comments clean and easy to read on the pages, you should not add this type of content:
- Do not add irrelevant messages to the topic or wiki.
- Try not to add comments with just one word. Although depending on the context, it will be accepted.
- Don't lengthen words, letters, signs, punctuation marks or emoticons.
- Don't use a word or phrase repeatedly together.
- Do not add text with random letters or numbers.
- Do not write with all or a large majority of words in capital letters, especially if it's done to make the message look more "aggressive".
Strong language
Some of the Luigi's Mansion games are rated E for everyone, so we must keep the wiki at the same level for any young visitor who has played this game and decides to see our pages.
Do not include any type of insult directly in your message, even if the comment is not directed to anyone. If you want to express something, do not use any curse words, there are more ways to show surprise, and censoring is not allowed either. Any sexual language is not allowed either.
These games have some hidden dark themes, so we accept if someone decides to discuss or theorize about them, such as the origin of some character becoming ghosts, but always try to give a warning of the content and not go overboard with the language, like including detailed scenes with gore, try to put it in a subtle way.
If any message goes out of line we will ask the original writer to add a warning or to rewrite it, if not, it will be deleted.
Harassment
Don't start conflicts with others and don't start bothering anyone either. If you start to illogically fill in a user's talk page this will be considered harassment, even if the person is not being insulted.
Nothing happens if you comment from time to time, even just to say hi, but don't fill their talk page with messages that can be considered spam or offensive in a continuously even stalkerish way just to gain their attention, or worse, to hurt them, if so you can be blocked to stop this.
Don’t revive or start again a conflict or issue that has been resolved long ago just to harm once more the others that were present in this situation, this will be considered harassment and will bring problems again on the wiki and users.
Do not speak ill of anyone or spread false and hurtful information about them either, this will be considered cyberbullying, and we will act immediately.
If you feel that you are being harassed or that you are a victim of cyberbullying, do not be afraid to contact one of the administrators for help.
Illegal content and advertising
Do not enter the wiki to give irrelevant publicity in the community, like filling our pages with links to other social media with the sole purpose of attracting attention and visitors there. Although you can comment it on your profile if you prefer.
What is strictly prohibited is sharing illegal links, such as pirated games or similar, and you can be blocked if you continue doing this.
What type of comments may be removed?
Comments can be removed by discussions moderators and admins for the following situations:
- Spam and irrelevant comments
- Any inappropriate language, links, images, etc
- Comments that start a argument
- Offensive comments
- Comments written in caps (usually these aren't removed, but must be edited, but can be removed if the message is aggressive)
- Comments that copy paragraphs from the articles (it is considered spam)
- Comments that advertise wikis
- Comments that if a user is showing off in their edits on a page
- Comments that are meant to shame other users
- Comments containing plagiarized content
- Comments which include NSFW content
- Comments that contain spam (these should be edited out to remove it but the comment should be removed entirely if it is too inappropriate)
- Off-topic conversations
These are all the things that can cause comments to be removed, as well as risk warnings and blocks. Comments should only be removed if they break these rules or if the user who published the message reports it and requests for it to be deleted personally. In this case, it will be removed even if it follows all the rules, as it is the original user's decision.
