Luigi is the younger brother of Mario and the main protagonist of Luigi's Mansion. He first won a mansion in a contest he did not even enter, though he still got put up with it. He told his older brother, Mario to have a celebration at that mansion. When Luigi entered the mansion, he found out that Mario wasn't there. He got help from an old man named Professor Elvin Gadd (or just Professor E. Gadd) to rescue Mario. He had to rescue Mario using two inventions, the Poltergust 3000, and the Game Boy Horror. He got to the Training Room to test his skills using the Poltergust 3000. After he completed his training, Professor E. Gadd asked him where he wanted to go. By then, he's ready to find Mario!

The Gold Diamond is the most valuable treasure in Luigi's Mansion. They're more in value than the Silver and Red Diamonds and there are only two that can be found. The first is by watering the plant in the Boneyard three times in a row without letting it wilt. The second is by catching all fifty boos (excluding King Boo).
Second Featured Article

The Silver Diamonds are the second most valuable treasures in Luigi's Mansion. Each Silver Diamond is worth 2,000,000G(s). PAL Hidden Mansion differs in some ways when it comes to Silver Diamonds, as the Speedy Spirits and Gold Mice always drop a Silver Diamond when caught (NOT when defeated with an element). In order to get an A rank mansion in the PAL Hidden Mansion, Luigi will need to collect some Silver Diamonds for money. Altogether, there are 5 Silver Diamonds in the NTSC version, totalling 10,000,000G(s), while there are 30 in the PAL Hidden Mansion, totalling 60,000,000G(s), which, oddly enough, is greater than two Gold Diamonds.

The Red Diamonds (often called Bronze Diamonds by fans, although they're not bronze) are low value treasures in the game. During Luigi's adventures to find Mario, if he waters one of the plants in the top right corner of the Balcony on the third floor, he will receive the first Red Diamond. The second Red Diamond is King Boo's Crown, obtained after Luigi defeats King Boo (hence the name).
