This page explains the policy on how protections can and will work on the different articles within the Luigi's Mansion Wiki, all of them decided by the admins and bureaucrats in the community so this can be a place of order and productivity for all users.

Protections' main usage is for defending against vandalism and unproductive edits that can bring more harm than good to the pages and other editors. Each level has a reason for its protection listed depending on the situation in which each of the pages are in certain periods of time or because of their purpose in the wiki.

List of Protections[]

No Protection / Allow all users[]

These are the most common type of protections enlisted so that the wiki is free to edit for everyone. Tons of articles in this area are somewhat small or incomplete, so this is meant as a welcome to any user that wants to edit for a good cause.

Articles with this Protection[]

  • Stub articles
  • Articles with stub sections
  • Incomplete articles
  • Articles that need a rewrite or cleanup
  • Articles in need of images
  • Normal articles (non-vandalized)
  • The Sandbox

Semi-protection / Allow only autoconfirmed users[]

These are articles that are under protection to prevent bad edits, usually added on popular or large pages that are often the main focus of vandalizers who decide to edit something on the wiki due to boredom or just to do harm.

Articles like these are still free to edit by autoconfirmed users, but unlike the no-protected articles, it's usually not required either due to the amount of revised information these pages already contain.

Articles with this Protection[]

  • Mainly complete articles
  • Popular articles
  • Vandalized articles

Full-on protection / Allow only administrators[]

Articles that are this protected are only available to edit by admins, bureaucrats, and content moderators. Things that are this protected are mainly not for the common user to edit, which is the main reason. This includes informative pages about the community and the wikia itself or element created for maintenance, which must only be touched by administrators.

The other reason is also if an article, template, category or image are being constantly vandalized by one or more users that day or there is an edit war happening (when multiple editors "undo" over and over again by not accepting the other's edit, even sometimes leaving insults or offensive words in the description), in this case, the page will be changed to full protection, usually only for a period of time until the problem in question is solved.

Articles with this Protection[]

  • The main page
  • 4th namespace articles (Starts with "Luigi's Mansion Wiki:")
  • Some Templates
  • Some Categories
  • Anything else of importance
  • Constantly vandalized articles (temporary)
  • Articles in edit war (temporary)
