The Old Clockworks is the third mansion Luigi travels to in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. It is the location of the fourth Dark Moon piece, guarded by the Overset Possessor, who hides ontop the clock tower. Located in a canyon, it has a desert and mechanical theme. Several puzzles here are based around time and clocks.
Appearance[]
A large mechanical clock factory situated on the edge of a canyon, the Old Clockworks like E. Gadd states, used to produce the best and finest timepieces ever made. It is the oldest of the Evershade Valley mansions as it is the ghost's favourite haunt. The entire factory was built ontop of an ancient archeological dig site, unbeknownst to the builders. Because the factory is located in a dusty canyon, there is large amounts of sand everywhere, burying alot of its equipment. All the rooms are littered with iron machinery, various tools, clock pieces and the like. There is a railway that runs past the front of the factory, starting in the Roundhouse, and then going past the Clockworks Court and beyond. The eastern basement levels are more industrial, being the heart of the factory with most of the largest machines and gears being located down here, but this area contains several bottomless pits.
The western underground section however, is very different. During the construction of the basement levels of the clockworks, the builders came across an ancient archeological dig site hidden behind a wall in the Roundhouse Pit. Interested, they dug down until they found an ancient Tomb, containing an Egyptian styled sarcophagus. The large amount of equipment, jackets, clothes and crates left behind implies that something happened within the factory which caused it to be shut down and abandoned. While non-canon, in the Beta version, E. Gadd implies to Luigi during the intro to A Timely Entrance that the clockworks was shut down for more horrific and disturbing reasons.
Dark Moon Quest[]
After defeating the Harsh Possessor and collecting the third Dark Moon piece, E. Gadd claims that the fourth Dark Moon piece is at the top of the tower. However, the pieces for the Clock Tower Gate are stolen, so Luigi is tasked to find the missing pieces. Luigi also finds a yellow Toad, who attempts to collect a ruby but ends up falling. The two Boos behind him save him before trapping him into a painting. Luigi collects a special compass to access the ruins underneath to find the clock hands. As he finds the minute hand, it is stolen by the Ancient Poltergeist. As Luigi captures him and retrieves the hand, the hour hand was stolen by three Greenies, then the Polterpup. After collecting the hour hand, Luigi finds the rotor in possession of a Sneaker with strange marks all over its body. Luigi also frees the yellow Toad from his painting. After reclaiming the rotor, Luigi gains access through the gate to reach the top of the tower, confronting the Overset Possessor in a twelve-round ghost-catching gauntlet in order to retrieve the fourth Dark Moon piece. After this, however, ghosts swarm the clock tower once more, but are eventually all captured by Luigi once again.

In Luigi's Mansion Arcade[]
The Old Clockworks serves as the second location in Luigi's Mansion Arcade. The difficulty here is classified as "Normal". As Luigi comes here, a Slammer steals the gear to open the front doorway. As Luigi gives chase, he finds a Gobber attacking Luigi on the roof, but ignores it and continues to hunt down the Slammer. As Luigi progresses through the tower, he and E. Gadd notice the ghosts have gotten stronger. Luigi then finds a key carried by a Bomb Brother themed variant. Luigi gives chase, eventually retrieving the key. Luigi opens the door, only to find the Gobber from the roof. Many other ghosts try to stop him, but are not match for Luigi. Luigi reaches the top of the tower to come face-to-face with The Three Sisters.
