Ranks are a feature that gives players a special ending in the game, obtainable at the end of the credits once King Boo is defeated. They appear as an image with a building and text that displays your rank. The ranking and the design of the building is determined by how much cash is collected throughout the game.

Luigi's Mansion and Luigi's Mansion (3DS)[]

In Luigi's Mansion (3DS), the ranks stay the same as in Luigi's Mansion, but each mansion is redesigned a bit. Additionally, a new S-Rank mansion is added which requires the player to collect at least 130,000,000G while playing the Hidden Mansion to obtain.

S Rank: Finish the game with at least 130,000,000G. 3DS version's Hidden Mansion only.

  • The S-Rank mansion appears less like a mansion and more akin to a luxury hotel with multiple fountains and water holes.

A Rank: Finish the game with at least 100,000,000 (NTSC version) or 150,000,000G (PAL version) on GameCube, and from 100,000,000G to 129,999,999G on 3DS+.

  • Message: Congratulations! Your mansion is complete!
  • In the GameCube version, the A-Rank Mansion appears tall and almost hotel-like in nature, with four stories. In the 3DS version, it appears far less angular and much livelier, with a small courtyard and fountain, and plenty of botany around the mansion itself.
  • B Rank: Finish the game from 70,000,000 to 99,999,999G.
    • Message: Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion! (Also appears for Ranks C-G) In the GameCube version,
    • The Mansion appears as a rather standard-looking three-story mansion. In the 3DS version, it more closely resembles a small domestic castle, with pronounces columns and spire-like chimneys.
  • C Rank: Finish the game from 60,000,000 to 69,999,999G.
    • On GameCube, the mansion resembles a luxury home fit for a medium-sized family. On 3DS it's even cosier, looking like a fancy cottage.
  • D Rank: Finish the game from 50,000,000 to 59,999,999G.
    • The GameCube version of the Rank D house is a small house with a bigger, 2-story middle and two sides. The 3DS version appears like a smaller version of the Rank C iteration.
  • E Rank: Finish the game from 40,000,000 to 49,999,999G.
    • The GameCube version resembles a small family house. The 3DS version is similar, bit it's mirrored and has a less-impressive sense of size.
  • F Rank: Finish the game from 20,000,000 to 39,999,999G.
    • The GameCube version is the last one to resemble a proper house, being a small, symmetrical home. The 3DS version begins shacking the homes here, as the F-Rank mansion appears as a very small, 1-person cottage.
  • G Rank: Finish the game from 5,000,000 to 19,999,999G.
    • Both versions of the G-Rank mansion are extremely small 1-room shacks, with the 3DS version looking even more exaggeratedly small.
  • H Rank: Finish the game from 5,000 to 4,999,999G(s).
    • Message: The haunted mansion disappeared without a trace...
    • Both versions are rather small tents set up on the hill the mansion used to be on. The 3DS version also has a firewood pile.

Luigi's Mansion 3[]

Like the original version and the 3DS port, the reconstructed building will vary depending on the rank the player gets in the game's ending, determined by the amount of gold the game is finished with.

As they use the cash accumulated by Luigi for the new hotel, the building will be bigger the more cash the player acquires during the game. There's only three types of hotel, rank A, B and C, of which only the size and number of floors change, the rest will remain the same.

The style of all versions will be the same. This one won't be as luxurious as the golden version created by King Boo's Illusion, but it'll be similar. For some reason, the new hotel will also be based off of E. Gadd, likely because he was the architect for it. For example, the top's shape resembles his white hair, or the different rounded green windows share a similarity with his glasses and the green receptors that his inventions usually have.

  • Rank A: Finish the game with 70,000G or more. This is the biggest one and the one closest to what was the daytime version of the old hotel. The building will be fully restored to its original glory, with approximately the same floors as before. It will contain four E. Gadd glasses-style windows befitting the transitional portions of the central turret as well as the very top.
  • Rank B: Finish the game with 30,000 to 70,000G. The hotel will be rebuilt to two-thirds of the original's size, including the first portion of the central turret, featuring both the hair ornament on top and green circular objects resembling E. Gadd's glasses.
  • Rank C: Finish the game with 0 to 30,000G. This one is the smallest one to obtain. The hotel will only be rebuilt up to the first five stories, with only a modest tower in the middle with an ornament resembling E. Gadd's tuft of hair.

Trivia[]

  • The A Rank Mansion is seen in the background of Luigi's Circuit in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS.
  • The music, like the messages also varies: For the Rank A mansion, and for the 3DS Rank S mansion, very beautiful music will play. For Rank B-G mansions, normal music will play. And for the Rank H mansion, deep, ugly music will play, along with a springy sound in the middle.

A comparison between the Rank D mansion and Luigi's home in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

  • Oddly enough, it's very difficult to get a Rank H mansion since the player will have to avoid tons of cash and it's impossible to completely avoid everything since King Boo's crown, which must be collected, values 5,000 G.
    • While it may seem easy to do this, keep in mind that over 150 million cash could be collected in total, compared to the 5 million earned at max to unlock a Rank H mansion.
  • The 'canon' Mansion for the first game ending seems to be The Rank D one, as it's similar to the one in Dark moon.
    • Interestingly, the angular design of the mansions is quite similar to the art style in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Luigi's Mansion 3 as a whole.
    • Somewhat Ironically, the 3DS version of the Rank D mansion resembles Luigi's house significantly less so.
  • In the photos of the final credits of Luigi's Mansion 3, the Rank C hotel seems to be the one that the characters are building.
    • This was made because all ranks have the C Rank as a base, so even if the player has achieved a higher rank, all the pictures made showing the building will always match with the final result.
    • Despite this, the rank hotel that the player has obtained will appear briefly at the beginning of the last cutscene of the game.
