Slammer   Strong Slammer

Slammers are ghosts that appear in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

Appearance[]

Slammers appear as large, red, beefy ghosts with muscular arms, and a zigzag-like tail. Before the Dark Moon was shattered, and after it was restored, Slammers have red eyes. During the time the Dark Moon was shattered, Slammers usually had a angry expression to their faces.

Personality traits[]

Slammers often come off as quite brutish ghosts. According to E. Gadd, these ghosts have a heart of gold. But like with all of the other ghosts following the crisis of Evershade Valley, Slammers became hostile and aggressive. Some Slammers tend to be more mischievous than aggressive with other ghosts such as Greenies, as shown in "Graveyard Shift." Also in said mission, some Slammers tend to express themselves in silly ways, such as two Slammers having flowerpots on their heads. Some Slammers also tend to be formal and occupied, such as reading newspapers in "Piece at Last."

When the Dark Moon piece was restored by Luigi, one Slammer was shown chewing on a Greenie before being calmed down, showing some degree of violence between Slammers and their own kind. Straight afterwards though, the Slammer immediately gave the Greenie a hug.

Powers and abilities[]

Shockwave Clap: Slammers can clap loudly, releasing red shockwaves that deal 20 HP of damage to Luigi.

Invisibility: Slammers can become invisible at will, as long as they are not attacking.

Dark Moon Quest[]

Gloomy Manor[]

Four Slammers stealing the gears in the Foyer.

Slammers make their first appearance in the Gloomy Manor. Four of them steal the gears in the Foyer, and each hide in the Lab, Parlor, Study and Studio.[1]

Later on, a Greenie in the Lobby pushes the elevator button to call a Slammer with several spiders.[2]

Haunted Towers[]

Greenie and a SlammerLMDM

A Greenie and a Slammer with the last pinwheel vane.

In the Haunted Towers, a Slammer is seen trying to fix the Hydro Generator. When Luigi gets there, the Slammer leaves, flying to the Conservatory. In the Laboratories, a Slammer is chasing a Gold Mouse. Once it is captured, Luigi fights three Greenies and two more Slammers.[3]

A Slammer is later seen fiddling with the fountain and getting sprayed by it in the Tool Shed. Also, the Slammer from the previous mission, who flew to the Conservatory, is seen playing the grand piano. Two more Slammers are also found here.[4]

A Slammer struggles to steal the last pinwheel vane. This mission also introduces a new variant of Slammers. They behave the same way, but they have flowerpots on their heads. When targeting Luigi, they turn invisible, but the pots can help reveal them.[5]

A Slammer is seen posing in the West Bathroom. During the fight, he is joined by two Greenies and a Creeper.[6]

Slammers will be one of the three ghosts that Luigi will have to fight if he chooses the wrong set of stairs within the Eerie Staircase.[7]

Old Clockworks[]

Two Slammers in Cargo RoomLMDM

Two Slammers in the Cargo Room.

In the Old Clockworks, a new variant of Slammers is introduced. These ones travel into the sand, creating a large hump. Luigi will need to use the Poltergust 5000 to vacuum the hump to expose the Slammer.[8]

Two Slammers break out of crates in the Container Yard, ambushing Luigi.[9]

Two Slammers appear in the Cargo Room. One is reading a newspaper, (which is a new variant) and one is punching a locker. If Luigi manages to successfully collect the key without being noticed by the Slammers, the Slammer punching the locker will soon notice the key is missing. It berates the other Slammer and the two look around the lockers.[10]

During the fight against the Overset Possessor, Slammers are fought at 4:00 and 12:00.[11]

Secret Mine[]

In the Secret Mine, two Slammers are carrying crystals, which can be seen in the Shaft.[12]

Also, a Slammer, alongside a Sneaker and a Greenie were trapped in red crystals prior to this mission. As a result, they transform into their stronger variants, introducing a new variant of Slammers, Strong Slammers.[12]

Treacherous Mansion + Ending[]

In the Treacherous Mansion, they appear in the Nautical Exhibit, alongside Strong Slammers, and appear on the Terrace among many other ghosts.[13]

Mario and a Slammer

In the game's ending, after Luigi defeats King Boo, frees Mario from his painting, and restores the Dark Moon with the five Toads and places it back in the sky, all the ghosts return to their friendly selves and regain their sanity. In the Ghost Container, one Slammer rushes over to a Greenie, giving him a hug, joined by another Greenie, a Hider and the Grouchy Possessor. One Slammer is seen in the Haunted Towers near the pinwheel gate, trying to chew on a Greenie before being calmed down by the Dark Moon, and giving it a hug as an apology. E. Gadd uses a remote to release all the ghosts from the Ghost Container, and 3 Greenies, a Slammer, a Hider, the Grouchy Possessor and the Polterpup join up with Luigi and co, spending some fun together before joining up for a group photo. A Slammer is seen bouncing Mario, and in the credits, one Slammer is seen riding a see-saw with the Toads, one riding the cart in the Garage of the Gloomy Manor with E. Gadd and Luigi, one is seen lifting Luigi, E. Gadd, and the Toad from the Haunted Towers, and one is seen bouncing on the bed with Luigi and a Greenie.

ScareScraper[]

Slammers are quite common ghosts appearing in ScareScraper, behind Greenies. Slammers usually appear in groups of 3, or solo, but with 3 Greenies, one equipped with a watermelon or jack-o'-lantern, or appear in twos, with 1 or 2 Creepers. A boss variant of the Slammer, the Beetle Whisperer, may be randomly fought on every 5th floor, barring the top floor. He, as well as their variations, have the ability to summon Beetles while being vacuumed up. During Hard ScareScrapers, Slammers may use paranormal shields, and appear in twos with Greenies equipped with shovels or spears, or appear in twos with equipped Greenies, as well as Creepers. Slammers also aid boss ghosts like Primordial Goo, Creeper Launcher and The Brain, but only on Normal/Hard difficulties.

In Luigi's Mansion Arcade[]

Slammers also make an appearance in Luigi's Mansion Arcade. They behave in the same manner as their Dark Moon counterparts, although they have 25 HP instead of 30.

Slammers are commonly found in the Gloomy Manor. They make appearances in the Foyer, Bedroom, Parlor, Kitchen and Dining Room.

Old Clockworks[]
