The Speedy Spirit is a rare, pale-blue variant of the Gold Ghost that Luigi encounters in Luigi's Mansion.

Strategy[]

Unlike others who attack Luigi, Speedy Spirits hide from him. If they are discovered by examining an object, they will panic and try to run off. Luigi must shine his Flashlight on it and immediately suck it up before it disappears. If Luigi manages to capture one of them, it will yield a large amount of treasure which always includes Coins and Bills but later in the game, Speedy Spirits will drop valuable treasures such as Gold Bars and Stones. There are a total of fifteen Speedy Spirits in the Mansion.

Speedy Spirits are only found when a room is dark. Luigi should search everything in a room carefully before turning on the lights. Also, the length of time they are stunned by the flashlight is the shortest of any ghost. If Luigi does not uncover a Speedy Spirit and the lights turn on in the room, they will be gone forever. Also, if Luigi uncovers a Speedy Spirit and fails to catch it, it never comes back, even during the blackout. However, some Speedy Spirit are only able to be captured during the blackout. Luigi can use an Elemental Ghost to defeat them, but they won't drop anything if he does.

Gold Mice are similar treasure yielding Ghosts. They are easier to catch but harder to find than Speedy Spirits.

During the Blackout, the Speedy Spirits of optional rooms that have not already been illuminated (like the Dining Room, Billiards Room and Rec Room) will not be able to come out of their hiding places; however, they will not be lost forever. Once the blackout subsides, the optional Portrait Ghosts and their accompanying Speedy Spirits will return. This only applies in the Breaker Room, as it's necessary to capture it before the blackout. However, Gold Mice can appear during the blackout.

Abilities[]

Speed: The Speedy Spirit lives up to its name, as they are very fast.

Trivia[]

  • They are comparable to Gold Greenies from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Golden Goobs from Luigi's Mansion 3.
    • They bear a striking resemblance to Temper Terror, both being pale-blue variants of the same ghost.
  • A Speedy Spirit appears in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake in Starbeans Café as a representative sent by Professor E. Gadd to taste a new drink after the player brews the fourth one.
  • A glitch can occur to where if the Speedy Spirit is not caught before the lights turn on, it will continue to fly around until Luigi exits the room.
