The Tomato is an unused item found in the files of Luigi's Mansion.

"Tomato.szp" is an unused model located in the files for Luigi's Mansion. Kitchen Portrait Ghost can be seen holding this model in a pre-release screenshot. It has 2 animations; "wait", which is just the tomato being stationary, and "rot", which, contrary to popular belief, is not an animation of the tomato rotting but an animation of the tomato rotating.
For some reason, this model is loaded, then replaced by the Bowling Ball when game.szp is loaded into ram. This likely indicates that Tomato.szp was once used as a placeholder for the Bowling Ball.
It's also possible that Luigi gives this tomato to Mario at the end of the game before going to a hotel to do some business.
